Russian woman: "Cheap wife?"

Browsing through different sites, I frequently come across the phrase "a cheap wife from Russia". For some reason there is an opinion that men want to marry women from across the ocean because it is very economical to have a Russian wife. It is hard to understand where his point of view is coming from. I will try to destroy this myth, since in reality marriage to a Russian woman entails considerable expense.

Let us begin from the fact that the man who desires to find a wife in Eastern Europe has to pay for the trips and the meetings. He also pays for the phone conversations and helps to cover the correspondence expenses. If a man is serious about a girl with whom he is corresponding, he should offer her to help pay the fees for Internet or marriage agency services. My husband offered me to cover all my expenditures for correspondence, and I refused for reasons that I cannot understand now.

There is nothing shameful in the fact that the man sends money. Before looking for a wife in the countries of the former Soviet Union, an experienced man would learn something about the history of the country, its culture and the standards of living there. He would know perfectly well that in many cases the girl cannot afford to spend a lot of money on correspondence, language coaching, etc. After the marriage, she would also visit her relatives, call them and send money to them. Although it is not too much by the western standard, it nevertheless means additional expenditures for your international family.

In order for a Russian woman to obtain a good job, she should learn the language, which is very important for her successful integration into the new society. It would give her the possibility to participate in social and cultural events and not to feel isolated, to be content with her lifestyle. In Scandinavia, for example, language coaching is free for the foreigners who settle there. However, you have to pay for it in other countries.

As time goes by, she could begin to work and start to be able to provide for her personal expenses and even part of the family budget. Nevertheless, the road to her integration into the new society is very long and complex. This calls for moral and financial effort. So, the fact is - marrying a Russian woman, the man accepts the financial responsibilities that would not appear if he married a girl from his homeland.
