This Russian woman was interested in the mechanism that was hidden behind the show of things and their forms; in 1915 she created several pictures entitled "Hours" - a rather widespread plot in cubistic and futuristic painting, as a symbol of time - the fourth measurement. However, Popova herself does not shows just hours but she shows what is inside, wheels and screws couplings, she is simply bewitched with what human hands can product - a wonderful machine. This, maybe, little bit naive, but sincere belief in technical progress is what appeals people to the pictures by Popova.
However, the peak of her career comes after the revolution in Russia.
She participated in reorganization of all forms of life by arranging mass revolutionary festivals, creating posters, making sketches of models for clothes.
Actually, Liubov Popova can be considered to be one of the founders of Russian design school.
Besides practical work Popova used to teach in several educational institutions. She taught at Russian state theatrical workshops, where many famous Russian artists studied, film director S.Ejzenshtejn, for instance.
In 1914 Liubov Popova, being already a famous Russian woman artist, wrote: "A human being is still significant existence: as far as he ceases to work life stops, cities became completely dead, but as far as people start working cities start living. Human work is a terrible power".
