As it's rather logical for a nation, based by convicts, adventurers and religious fanatics, Americans have kept the spirit of firm independence till now. Americans are proud of the fact that they are Americans - the citizens of the best country in the world - but each of them considers it necessary to make one understand that he personally is absolutely not like all other Americans. He is much better. Americans like to boast that they are not like each other, and that they are not like anyone in the world in general, whether they are singles or not. Actually the only one unique external difference of Americans from all the others is that they are taller and their teeth are more even.
To tell the truth, there no simple Americans in the world. Any American is an American with a makeweight of "origin". From the primary melting boiler millions of possible ingots were rolled out: Americans of the Croatian origin, Americans of the Irish origin, Americans of the Japanese, Mexican and others origins. Do not be surprised, if a typical American has a name of Patrick Hung, Octavio Rosenberg or Elsa-Maria Nugumbvele.
The American begins to speak about himself "I am a Pole", or "I am an Italian", only on the ground that his great-great-grandfather was born in Poland or in Italy. It doesn't matter, that the great-great-grandson does not know a single word in any language except English and has never been farther to the east of New York and to the west of Chicago. He is able to mould kalatches (if he is a Pole) or to cook spaghetti (if he is an Italian), and it is far more essential.
The spirit of inveterate individualism penetrates practically into all aspects of the American life. The American national heroes are brigands, like Jessie James, the gangster from the Wild West and businessmen, like Sam Walton, the founder of a network of supermarkets "Wal-Mart". Every American worker dreams to start his own business somehow. Individualism is spread even over home life: almost one third of American families are singles, that is consist of one person.
