Single Russian women = lonely mothers

While conducting of a study, even attempting to avoid term "lonely mothers", nevertheless, in view of the absence of equivalent replacement, for us it was necessary to use this word combination, and we now and then were surprised, how Russian single women receive this term as the inherent element of their life.

They became accustomed to think about themselves as about the defective family and it is completely concordant to call themselves mother- lone persons.

After conducting about 70 interviews, we used different word combinations, in order inadvertently to not offend interlocutress, and attempted to avoid, in our opinion, offensive word combination "lonely-mother", using phrases of the type of "woman, who brings up a child alone". However, they encountered with the fact that in the interview they themselves, making the attempts to describe themselves, used a term "lonely-mother".

There was no protest among woman about this term. And this to a certain degree tells, that they themselves fit to themselves that appropriated to them by society label, they were subdued to their lot and to that evaluation, which the society gives to them. Although, despite not on what, they can and must have a larger acknowledgement and a respect from the side of the society
